Ramblings on my OTPs

invitanI'm an SA fangirl and I adore bxb. I don't hate bxg though, and I'm not at all the type who will refuse to read anything besides my OTPs. It's just that I really prefer to read fics portraying my OTPs, and can never get tired of them.
Anyway, I just suddenly find it especially interesting how my OTPs all have same patterns...
1. Akira x Hikaru in Hikaru no Go- my all time OTP.
There were times when I live for AkiHika and AkiHika only. I really don't mind HikaAki much, except that HikaAki fics tend to get more OOC than AkiHika - perhaps due to the conflict between Akira's gentle appearance and his true fierce personality. Anyway, AxH can be considered the first bxb couple I ever love (well, I guess SasNar doesn't count, since I like them subconsciously). Obviously it's due to their peculiar obsession of each other (let's count how many times in the canon they think of each other XD" ) And it even gets more support from the way everyone in the canon acknowledges them. They are so MFEO.
Anyway, I always think that Akira and Hikaru do love each other - subconsciously. They are not the type who would die for each other's sake, but rather the type who will push each other ahead and give each other tremendous (love and) devotion until the day they die together (and then they ascend to paradise to meet Sai and the story has just begun XDDD). It's more like a platonic love in my opinion. The more fics I read, the more I feel that sexual desire doesn't really suit them. I don't think they would even ever say that they really love each other, but rather they would consider each other as the most important person in their lives (which is more than enough of a proof of love). They will neither kiss nor confess, but they still love each other, and they (and yaoi fangirls) somehow know it, and I guess it's really enough.
By the way, as I have read from a meta post, Go is supposed to be a game where you have to play against various opponents, but there are numerous implications in the canon that Akira and Hikaru will be satisfied as long as they can play each other and each other only. And that pretty much sums up their characteristic relationship in the canon.
2. Kanda x Allen - DGM
I guess my obsession for this couple has decreased a great deal throughout the months. At first I love them since they are so like Akira and Hikaru - from appearance to relationship. But their relationship lacks something that makes AkiHika lovers forever: the continuous obsession and acknowledgement from everyone else. I mean they are comrades only, and even though their interaction is pretty much hostile (and somehow cute), they are not anything more of each other than comrade. Gosh, I even find LaviKanda or AllenEarl more persuasive - if not for the fact that I dislike Lavi and find the latter couple disgusting. I mean there are some elements that my OTP needs and they lack, and I really dislike the way Hoshino keeps messing around with the plot. Well, I can only find the pair appealing if I like the canon anyway.
By the way, I find it irritating that the fandom seems to prefer AllenKanda, which is strange. The shorter one can never be seme, seriously.
3. Sasuke x Naruto - Nar
I simply abandon this one. I adore them when they are young and cute, but I dislike the way Kishimoto makes Sasuke become when he grows up. Once I dislike the character, I dislike the pairing. The same goes for KandaAllen - I really don't like Allen that much even from the start.
4. Duzell x Phelios - Vampire Game
I love this couple. I really do. Although I also love Duzell x everyone, since I love Duzell so much. This pair has everything to become my OTP - passionate obsession (come on, they reincarnated to reunite with each other), long hair bishounen, rivalry, twincest, ambiguous implications (Ishtar: Duzell, do you love my great-grandfather? Duzell: That's the most stupid question I'm ever asked - because it's so PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that he DOES! And what's with that I want you to be mine? )
If only the fandom is not so small = =
5. Taikoubou x Youzen - Houshin Engi
Perhaps because I love Taikoubou and I love long-hair bishounen? I don't know... Sometimes I likes to match people together because they look so beautiful together XD" I would love them more if there are more fics of them though = =
6. D x Leon - PSoH
This pair also portrays deep obsession (what else can make Leon run off for years to find D?? ) XD And D is so adorable whenever he's around Leon. Somehow I like the way he becomes more human-like, as if by keeping in touch with Leon, he made Leon his only bond with human.
I want more, MORE OF THEM :(( 10 vols are simply insufficient for my love :((
7. Tezuka x Fuji - PoT
Finally, my newest obsession. First of all, I don't like PoT, and I have been skimming through anything I can. Secondly, I read the manga only, and haven't touched the anime ( perhaps I would never touch it - 200+ episodes are just too many for my patience, which again makes me wonder why good stories such as Houshin Engi and Black Cat are crammed into some 20 something episode series, while this repetitive and cliche plot is so popular for its own good).
Anyway, I finally figure out why PoT has such a large fanbase. I'm not impressed with the bishounens at first, but the art improves immensely in the later chapters. I like Tezuka better at first - I always like serious guys - but Fuji really gets to me later, which is strange considering how I normally don't like guys with fake expression worn on their face - take Fye for example (though it might be due to my general dislike for Clamp's characters). Anyway, I love Fuji, and I love Tezuka, and I love their interaction, as well as the history they share. I love how Fuji think of Tezuka during 2 of his matches, both of which he win (Fuji thinks of Tezuka, Fuji imagines his opponent is Tezuka, and he wins +___+ How much more can a fangirl ask for +__+)
And I have not been enjoying the pleasure of fangirling a popular couple for sooo long (apart from AkiHika, and I hates AllenKanda), which means infinite supply of fics and good fics XD"
Anyway, in conclusion: general patterns of my OTPs:
- They balance each other - rivalry, or whatever... just balance. SaiHik doesn't work for me, and especially NOT TezuRyo.
- They have their share of obsession XD"
- Bishounen, and preferably long-hair bishounen XD"
- Good seme are good seme, there's no such thing as a shorter good-seme = =
- More likely platonic love...?
- NOT sappy, definitely NOT sappy = = That's why yaoi manga never works for me = =
